[CommonWealth Education] KUMON: Seeing the Unique Talents in Every Child, Cultivating Future Leaders with Self-Learning and Confidence
Amid the trend of declining birth rates, parents are placing even more importance on their children's education. KUMON recognizes each child's uniqueness, helping them master their learning pace, build confidence, foster self-learning abilities, and develop in a positive direction.
With the rise of globalization and increasing competition, the challenges in learning continue to escalate. Parents wish for their children to discover their talents, unlock their potential, and grow happily and confidently. "Every child has their own unique characteristics and strengths, and as a teacher, my responsibility is to be their talent scout," said Teacher Shen Yijun, who has been involved in education for over 20 years and is with the KUMON Anping Jianping Street Classroom.
With learning trends constantly changing and the introduction of the 108 National Curriculum Guidelines emphasizing competence-based education, Teacher Shen observed, "The so-called competence is not just about reading comprehension, but also about integrating life experiences." Therefore, besides guiding children to develop good reading habits and attitudes, she often encourages parents to create rich life experiences for their children. "For example, when practicing questions that talk about the distance of rivers, if children have never observed real mountains and streams in nature, they won't be able to understand or comprehend the question. So, it's crucial to connect what they learn from books with real-life experiences to deepen their abilities."
