On December 9th, the Taipei Tsai Hsueh-Ni Charity Foundation and the Women’s Federation of World Peace Taiwan held a "Meet a Better Version of Yourself" seminar at the Da’an Women’s Empowerment Center.

With the rapid development of the internet and technology, the key to surviving in today’s ever-changing society lies in self-learning ability. The Association for the Promotion of Self-Directed Learning in Taiwan held the “Self-Directed Learning and Self-Learning Ability Development Academic Seminar” on December 7, 2023. The event invited multiple experts and professors to share their insights, aiming to contribute to the promotion of self-learning ability.

The Kon Wen Cultural and Educational Foundation is honored to invite Teacher Tong-Tong, who manages the "Tong-Tong Teacher's Children Say" fan page, to share his insights on "Intervention and Guidance for Children with Special Needs".

Throughout Tomohiro Morita's growth, his mother gave him many opportunities to explore, such as allowing him to try feeding insects. If he showed an interest in insects, she would buy him various related books. It was also his mother who introduced him to KUMON when he was in kindergarten, and he continued learning with KUMON, eventually surpassing the academic level of his grade. He never felt bored or uninterested, nor did he ever think of stopping his KUMON studies.

Nikolay, a ballet dancer born and raised in Russia, has always been an active child. The moment he heard music, he couldn't stop moving. His hometown, Perm, is surrounded by forests, and his father would occasionally take the family skiing in the woods. Although Nikolay once considered learning figure skating, fate led him to start ballet at the age of six.

April 23rd is significant in history, as it marks the birth and death anniversaries of many great authors. For example, the renowned English playwright William Shakespeare and the Spanish author of Don Quixote, Miguel de Cervantes, both passed away on this day in 1616. In 1995, UNESCO designated April 23rd as World Book Day to honor books and their authors, and to encourage everyone to open a book and enjoy the pleasure of reading.

Ms. Wu Shuhuan, a teacher at KUMON Fengshan Wujia Ruilong Center, who has worked in education for over 40 years and helped countless children develop their self-learning abilities, points out, "Reading is the key that opens the door to children's learning. If we cultivate a love for reading from an early age, they will naturally enjoy it, and it will be immensely beneficial in the future."

The 108 National Curriculum Guidelines have changed the content and direction of student learning. Entering its third year, this major educational initiative in Taiwan has shifted toward interdisciplinary, project-based learning. Students are expected to demonstrate perseverance and self-motivation. In assessments, competency-based questions will not only include long reading passages but also non-multiple-choice questions, aiming to understand students' thought processes and viewpoints. As we look to the future, how can parents and teachers accompany the next generation in confidently growing through learning?
