[The Liberty Times] Companies Generously Donate to Help Upgrade Teaching Toys at Parent-Child Centers in Taichung City

[Ou Su-mei, reported in Taichung] As the summer vacation approaches, local businesses enthusiastically donate a variety of summer gifts for children. The Heping Parent-Child Center received NT$300,000 to upgrade its facilities and equipment, while 18 public infant daycare centers and parent-child centers received NT$300,000 worth of educational toys. Additionally, 100 children from disadvantaged families received summer epidemic prevention packages. The city government held a joint donation ceremony today at the Houli Parent-Child Center. The Director of the Social Affairs Bureau, Peng Huai-zhen, accepted the donations on behalf of the recipients and presented thank-you certificates to the kind-hearted companies and organizations, expressing gratitude for their generous contributions in creating a happier and more comprehensive learning and growth environment for children.

Peng Huai-zhen stated that parent-child centers are spaces for families to learn, play, and grow together. The Heping Parent-Child Center is the first such center located in an indigenous area in the country. He thanked the Xiangyeqing Outdoor Leisure Professional Center for donating NT$300,000 to help enhance and renovate the facilities at the Heping Parent-Child Center. The center also plans to purchase items such as traditional Atayal clothing and weaving machines to offer courses on traditional weaving, dance, and Atayal cuisine, promoting local culture.

Kon Mon Cultural Company, the Taipei Tsai Hsueh-Ni Charity Foundation, and the Kon Wen Cultural and Educational Foundation jointly donated a batch of KUMON educational toys, including puzzles, tangrams, Chinese-English flashcards, and Chinese-English nursery rhyme CDs, with a total value of NT$300,000. The toys will be distributed to 18 parent-child centers and Public Infant Daycare Centers to stimulate the development of multiple intelligences in young children.

Chao, Wen-Yu, CEO of the Kon Wen Cultural and Educational Foundation, stated that educational toys help stimulate the development of language and physical movement in young children. Through play, they encourage learning motivation and help establish concepts of numbers, quantities, shapes, and space, while also cultivating focus and thinking skills. In addition to donating educational toys, the foundation also provides training to childcare staff on how to use the toys effectively.

Furthermore, the Grateful Social Welfare Foundation, which cares for disadvantaged children and youth, contributed to the Taichung City Social Affairs Bureau's "Together Through the Pandemic, Warm-hearted Relief" program this year by donating 100 summer pandemic prevention kits. These kits include convenience store gift cards, board games, jump ropes, eight-treasure porridge, grain drink mix packets, and alcohol wipes.
