KUMON Sustainable Joyful Reading Program Officially Launches in the Summer of 2022!

The long summer break is just around the corner. How can we ensure that children not only get the proper rest they need, but also absorb new knowledge, make continuous progress, and enhance their reading skills in a relaxed and enjoyable holiday atmosphere?

To provide children with a rich and fulfilling summer, KUMON, in collaboration with the Kon Wen Cultural and Educational Foundation, has carefully planned and prepared the "Sustainable Joyful Reading" event. This initiative involves recruiting and training volunteer story-telling teachers, selecting SDGs-related picture books, and choosing 76 KUMON centers across Taiwan to participate. Starting in July 2022, this event will be launched and is expected to hold 76 sessions across Taiwan this summer.

The SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) were announced by the United Nations in 2015 to guide the world towards sustainability. KUMON, which operates in 61 countries and regions globally, has been dedicated to talent development for decades and continues to focus on education and social issues. As the world moves towards sustainability, KUMON is committed to playing its part.

During each "Sustainable Joyful Reading" session, volunteer teachers will guide children through reading SDGs-related picture books. Through vibrant images, engaging text, and fun interactive games, children will gain an understanding of the world around them and the ongoing global issues, while incorporating sustainable concepts into their daily lives. Additionally, SDGs-related introduction cards will be displayed, and a recommended book list will be provided to parents for reference.
